River Junction Press was born out of a love of history connected to place. Its early publications were local history booklets. In 2006 Kira Gale published Lewis and Clark Road Trips and since then has concentrated on researching and writing about the death of Meriwether Lewis. Her biography, Meriwether Lewis: The Assassination of an American Hero and the Silver Mines of Mexico, was published in 2015.

In May of 2017 Kira will publish Fifty Documents on The Assassination of Meriwether Lewis. A series of podcasts will be based on these two books. In November, 2017  a revised and updated version of Lewis and Clark Road Trips: Trip Planner and History Guide will be published.
